One EXO: Myanmar Talent Expands Across EXO Group

With tourism in Myanmar remaining uncertain, we've been exploring new avenues for our family in Myanmar. Read all about it!

Myanmar has an important part in the story of EXO. Shortly after establishing ourselves in Vietnam in ‘93, the ‘Golden Land’s’ mystique as an undiscovered destination combined with its charming people, culture and landscapes made for the perfect fit to expand our brand of pioneering travel.

Launching in the country in 1995, we firmly believed that our presence in the country was important and meaningful, and that the world needed to experience the country’s incredible people and attributes firsthand to truly appreciate it.

This is a belief that we still hold today alongside our team and family in the country, many of whom have been with us from the very start.

With tourism in Myanmar remaining uncertain, we’ve been exploring new avenues for our Myanmar family.

Their exceptional skills, passion and experience and the growing potential for remote work has enabled us to leverage their talents beyond the borders of their homeland.

We’ve integrated Myanmar staff in our Thailand sales department, bolstering their experience with a recent inspection trip to Bangkok and surroundings. This trip, combined with in-person training, has equipped them with firsthand knowledge, enabling them to confidently transition to designing bespoke Thailand itineraries.

Wah Wah Lwin, a member of the EXO Myanmar team since 2002, is excited about the new challenge. ‘Thailand has so many options for travelers and there is a lot of product knowledge to learn’, she remarked. ‘But I’m blessed to be working with colleagues who have the same ‘One EXO’ spirit– it really motivates me!’

‘We are truly fortunate to have our experienced staff from Myanmar assisting us with travel bookings in Thailand,’ remarked Kim Rasmussen, EXO Thailand’s GM.  ‘Not only have they mastered the destinations we explore, but they also have an in-depth understanding of all the EXO systems and culture. Their dedication and expertise have made our journey extraordinary.’

‘As former General Manager (GM) of Myanmar, I know better than most just how talented and experienced our team at EXO Myanmar is,’ explains Sandor Leinwand recte Rein, EXO Saudi GM. ‘Since travel has been on hold in Myanmar, it has been fantastic being able to rely on their experience and know-how while starting up this new destination.  Additionally, we are happy to be able to provide our staff in Myanmar with much-needed income and job security.’

Beyond Thailand and Saudi Arabia, members of our Myanmar team are providing remote support for EXO Cambodia, Singapore, Malaysia, and Japan as well as for the head office.

We will continue to support our team and staff in Myanmar and look forward to a time when we can, once again, welcome tourists to the ‘Golden Land’.
